Congratulations to John Stefanik and Andrew Stefanik, this year’s winners of WPSCA’s annual Stephanie Husak scholarship award to attend the Summer Slovak Language and Culture Program at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. However, because of the pandemic, the in-person classes are being delayed until further notice.
John Stefanik is an alumnus of Central Catholic High School and the University of Pittsburgh’s Slovak Studies Program. He is currently a student of Applied Economics at the University of Cincinnati. John served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Armenia as an Education Volunteer. One of John’s most formative childhood experiences was visiting Slovakia and meeting relatives. He is looking forward to deepening that experience through language and culture training in Slovakia.

Andrew is also a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He is currently an aviation student at Beaver County Community College and is also enrolled in the Slovak Language courses at the University of Pittsburgh.
